You Can Install Apps on New Apple TV But You Can't Launch Them

As noticed by Gizmodo, iPhone developer Steven Troughton-Smith has discovered that the new Apple TV which was launched a month ago, allows app installation after modification of the apps required to identify them as compatible with Apple TV. Unfortunately, you can't launch them, you will need a launcher for that.
So hackers and jailbreakers must find out a way to launch them, but after the launch of Google TV's site today, Apple will do soon because they don't have any other choices but to put apps in their TV. For your information, SHAtter exploit already works on Apple TV and could jailbreak it, but still no apps! As usual we will keep you informed about any updates for this one!

The key below was found while exploring iOS 4.2 beta that was released two days ago.
Of course, this $99.99 box may be a new jailbreak target, but to do what? to run apps on a limited storage? or will it do far greater things? [TUAW, via Engadget]

Apple May Offer TV Show Access for $0.99/Month?

It's just a couple of days ago when we heard a rumor saying that Apple is going to offer $.99 TV show rental. Today, Cult of Mac reporting that Apple may be offering access to all the episodes of a TV Show for $.99/month rather then the previously rumored $.99/episode rental charge.
Instead of renting individual TV shows for $1, customers will pay $1 a month for ALL EPISODES of that show. In other words, fans of CBS’ “Big Bang Theory” can get all episodes of the show as long as they continue to pay the $1-a-month access fee. It would cost $12 to watch the show for the whole year. The tip comes from someone with connections inside Apple.
If you thought about it, it's much better! To access to the entire show library for an entire year it would cost you $12 ONLY. In the old rumors if you signed up for 10 individual shows, it would cost you $120 to gain access for an entire year.

When we look closer to the next Apple's event on September 1st, we can say that Steve may be hiding another event behind it's musical guitar. In brief, Apple may announce with both Apple's iTV with ARM Processor and Access to App Store and iPod Touch 4G with front FaceTime camera in this event.

What Should we Expect from Apple in September 1st Event?

It's only two days ago when Apple started to sent invitations for a special Apple musical event. Today, Apple Dressed The Yerba Buena Center For The Event Of September 1st. But people wondering about what should be expected there? can there be an iOS 4.1 announcement? Well, here's my thoughts.
Absolutely, it's a next generation iPod Touch event as Apple dressed the Yerba Buena again in San Francisco with a big guitar that indicates to a musical event. Also expected a new iTunes rental option for TV episodes, TV shows are available for purchase at US $1.99 each. Bloomberg said that Apple will add the rental option for $0.99 just 24 hours after their event.
What about iTV and iOS 4.1? Musical event doesn't refer to an iTV event or iOS 4.1 announcement but who knows, Perhaps Steve has one more thing behind his guitar. Anyway, come back to CoveringWeb on September 1st.

iTV Will Release By Mid Of September, iTv Will Change Everything

The founder of Digg, Kevin Rose, has expressed some ideas about AppleTV (aka iTV). There is no new technical details but Apple could launch the new product in September. Engadget has already spoken several time of the new iTV, on the basis of statements unearthed.
The new iTV product seems to arrive by mid-September (probably 14) and Rose added that the new iTV will change everything:
- iOS TV Applications: Expect to see an iPhone/Pad like marketplace for television applications. Video sharing/streaming/recording apps, interactive news apps, and of course games.
- a la carte (app) stations: With Apple’s iAds, content producers (eg. ABC/NBC/etc.) can directly monetize and distribute their content. This will eventually destroy the television side of the cable and satellite industry, as your only requirement to access these on-demand stations will be an internet connection. Say goodbye to your monthly cable bill.
- .Me Picture/Video sharing: At $99 your parents, grandparents, and friends will have an iTV. Sharing pictures/videos from your iPhone will happen with the push of a button. Imagine getting a notification of new family videos the next time you turn on your TV. My mom will love this feature.
- The iPad will turn into one big badass remote control: The iPad will be the preferred input device for the iTV. You’ll be able to editing videos, control games, and extend the interactive television experience. Imagine watching monday night football on the TV while viewing/exploring other camera angles on the iPad.
