GreenPois0n Jailbreak for iOS 4.1 is Not Coming Out This Weekend

We already know that pod2g, the hacker behind SHAtter exploit has confirmed that iOS 4.1 jailbreak will be released within few days, so most of users thought that hackers will release GreenPois0n jailbreak this weekend (as usual) but p0sixninja, Chronic Dev Team member has tweeted that the tool is not coming out this weekend.
"Sunday is a Funday" is dev team’s slogan, I believe ours is "Patience Please!"

It’s /not/ coming out tomorrow, I’m just getting sick of hearing dev teams slogan (as much as everyone else is sick of hearing ours =P)

And no that doesn’t mean it’s coming today either. Patience Please!!
They just wants you to be patient, so be patient and don't ask again for release time, probably it will be released next week so stay tuned !!

Planetbeing already ported Android 2.2 on iPhone 3G / 2G with the help of iPhodroid which made it easy! But iPhone 4 / 3GS users still wants to try Andriod on their devices, so hackers has successfully patched the iOS kernal to accept oversized NOR images to be able to install Andoid on iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS through a userland iDroid installation.
Hacker cpich3g tweeted:
Patched kernel to accept oversized NOR images, lucky there is room left – 1 step closer to userland idroid installation (for older devices)
Hacker pod2g, behind SHAtter exploit for iOS 4.1 jailbreak has confirmed in a reply that Android will be soon ported to iPhone 4:

SHAtter Jailbreak for iOS 4.1 will be Released Soon, Not Waiting iOS 4.2

Pretty cool news, the administrator of the iPhone Wiki and the popular iPhone hacker behind modified blacksn0w on iOS 4 has just announced that SHAtter jailbreak will be released soon as the hacker behind SHAtter exploit is not waiting for iOS 4.2 release from Apple, so we should expect it anytime this week or next week, stay tuned!!
They won't wait for iOS 4.2 to release SHAtter. iOS 4.1 will be jailbroken soon.
iOS 4.2 is scheduled to be launched in November for iPad, iPod touch and iPhone, but if the developers of SHAtter are not waiting for iOS 4.2 then the release is soon, there's no ETA yet, at least I can say that we will not wait long for this jailbreak which is not confirmed yet tethered or untethered, also we don't know yet if it's named SHAtter or Greenpois0n. As usual we will keep you informed.

iPod Touch 2G (MC Model) Pwned for Ever

Pod2g the guy behind the SHAtter exploit which will be used with Greenpois0n to create the new iOS 4.1 jailbreak for iPhone 4, iPod touch 4G and iPad, has discovered a new exploit that will pwn iPod touch 2G for ever, the new exploit called usb_control_msg(0xA1, 1) exploit. This is the fourth exploit discovered by Pod2G, really he is talented guy.

The new exploit technicality is complicated to understand through regular users, you can check this in the quote below to see how it works.
A heap overflow exists in the iPod touch 2G (both old and new) bootrom’s DFU Mode when sending a USB control message of request type 0xA1, request 0×1.

On newer devices, the same USB message triggers a double free() when the image upload is marked as finished, also rebooting the device (but that’s not exploitable because the double free() happens in a row). posixninja analyzed and explained this one.
You also have to know that the new exploit will also be used in the upcoming Sn0wbreeze 2.0, to jailbreak iPod touch 2G (MC Models) for ever.
Looks like sb2 will have otb support for ipt2g MC models too! :) thx @pod2g
@jonnyboywashere this exploit is only in the ipt2g, thats why pod2g published it on the wiki
Any way, we can sum up that the new exploit will pwn iPod touch 2G (MC Model) for ever. [via redmondpie & The iPhone Wiki]

New Untethered Userland iOS 4.1 Jailbreak On Its Way

May be we can call this HUGE especially when pod2g, the developer of SHAtter exploit, left the Chronic dev team and worked individually. Today, MuscleNerd has pretty much confirmed that Comex is still working on iOS 4.1 untethered userland jailbreak. After Redsn0w release yesterday to jailbreak iPhone 3G, and iPod touch 2G, someone has asked MuscleNerd if it support iPod touch 2G MC model as written on the blog. MuscleNerd answered him that it's supported but it's will be tethered until Comex release a new userland exploit.
Jonathan Kurtz asks MuscleNerd:
@MuscleNerd so redsn0w supports iPod touch 2g mc? Or is it a typo on the blog?
MuscleNerd replies:
@jonnyboywashere it does, but that ipt2g MC model will be a tethered JB at 4.1 until @comex releases a new userland exploit
This userland jailbreak from comex we already talked about when MuscleNerd confirmed that iOS 4.1 jailbreak coming from Comex. Then the talks changed when pod2g and p0sixninja came to the jailbreak scene, first, we published information about SHAtter exploit and USB based Greenpois0n jailbreak for iOS 4.1. But today, we can't decide who will jailbreak iOS 4.1 and we can't decide it's tethered or untethered. As usual we will keep you informed by any updates.

SHAtter Exploit Developer "Pod2G" Leaves Chronic Dev Team

Few minutes ago Pod2g the well-known iPhone hacker and who discovered the SHAtter exploit which will be used in the new iOS 4.1 jailbreak, he announced that he is not affiliated with Chronic dev team anymore, and now he is working independently.
As you know that Pod2g was the most important member of the Chronic dev team in the upcoming iOS 4.1 jailbreak project, he discovered the SHAtter exploit which will be used with the Greenpois0n tool to create the jailbreak tool.
From now on, I’m not affiliated with chronic dev team anymore. I’m now working independently.

This is not a big deal for final users at all, as I gave details of my SHAtter exploit to both chronic and iphone dev teams !

To clarify: I’m an exploit maker, not a jailbreak tool developer. SHAtter is my 3rd bootrom exploit (24Kpwn was a team effort tho).
As Pod2g mentioned that he is not a jailbreak tool developer, he is just exploit maker, and already he did his mission, so the rest tasks to develop the jailbreak tool is related to another team member. But I have to reassure our respectable readers that his left will not affect the jailbreak project. but all of this did not answer the question, Why Pod2g left the Chronic Team?

GreenPois0n.com Updated to Get Ready for Release?

I know that you are all looking forward to jailbreak iOS 4.1, so here's a piece of good news. Today's morning I navigated my browser to take a look on GreenPoison's site (http://greenpois0n.com) and I was surprised when I saw that they changed the site a bit. The old logo has been changed with a new one and no more wallpapers. Take a look on the new logo.
Here's the old logo, before the change:
So, it seems like the new jailbreak will be named GreenPois0n which works on SHAtter's exploit. The tethered / untethered status not announced yet, so don't ask me about this! All what we can conclude from this change that GreenPois0n jailbreak tool seems imminent, we will keep you informed about any updates or changes take place, Stay tuned!

GreenPois0n to Jailbreak iPhone 4, iOS 4.1?

Now, here’s an interesting piece of news coming from pod2g. Remember GreenPois0n jailbreak tool for iPad which was never released from p0sixninja, GreenPois0n will be back again to jailbreak iPhone 4, iPod touch 4G and iPad. Pod2g has hinted that he used the tool build by p0sixninja by running it on iPhone 4 and it works well.
Hey, @p0sixninja 's epic greenpois0n works well on iPhone 4G ! (need to work on the framebuffer code tho ! )
Greenpois0n jailbreak tool will be used as toolkit here alongside the latest bootrom exploit (SHAtter) by pod2g. This will save loads of time and cuts in jailbreak development of iOS 4.1 to half as Will Strafach points:
remember when we said greenpois0n would come to use later as a toolkit? using it to create this jailbreak is cutting our workload in half (or maybe more). that's why pod mentioned it.
It's not confirmed that the next jailbreak will be named GreenPois0n but at least the same code will be used to build the tool. Hackers are currently working hard to make the releases sooner than later, as usual, we will keep you informed by any updates about the tool.

SHAtter Jailbreak is Growing

Just a quick little heads-up chronic-dev, the guys behind the SHAtter Jailbreak just added a new update in the official blog, confirmed that they are making steady progress with the new jailbreak tool, also they have been much asked about the release date but till now they still can't give an estimate for this date.
Although we still can’t give any details of the exploit(s) that need to be used, I figured I’d make an update here to just let you guys know that we are still working hard on the jailbreak and making steady progress. Please keep in mind that even though we have had the method for awhile, there was a certain very key element that we (or rather, pod2g the great) only got working a few days ago, so it’s not like we have this packaged up and we are just sitting on it. It is being actively worked on as I type this (the loader, the payload itself, the easy to use computer-side tools, the payload, the patches, etc. Just hang tight, it will definitely be worth it.
We already mentioned that SHAtter will jailbreak all iOS devices for ever, so we have to wait and see,  keep tuned for immediate updates.

Update 1: GreenPois0n to Jailbreak iPhone 4, iOS 4.1?, check the details here.

SHAtter will Jailbreak ALL Existing iOS Devices Forever [Updated]

According to a new post on the iPhone wiki from the well-know iPhone hacker p0sixninja, reveals some information about the exploit (named SHAtter) discovered by him and pod2g. The information refers to a new bootrom based exploit which will make all current iOS devices always perform the jailbreak forever.
p0sixninja worked a lot for this vulnerability, then pod2g made a process to run the exploit on iOS 4.1 yesterday. SHAtter is the codename source for this exploit, this vulnerability acts on the hardware of the device, so Apple can't close this hole, only on the new devices.

All Apple devices produced before the release of this exploit will be free forever, including the newly released iPod touch 4G and the iPad. The next jailbreak may be tethered (not confirmed yet) which means you have to connect your device to your computer to be able to reboot it.

Anyway Apple loses the fight. As usual, we will keep you informed by any updates about this jailbreak that will frees all devices. [via Twitter]

Update 1: p0sixninja discarded the tweet and deleted SHAtter page from the wiki blog because the information was accidently misleading. Will Strafach updated his post to include more information and facts,
- We have not yet announced if this is tethered or untethered
- We have not yet announced details about the exploit
- Anything you read saying it is one of the above in definite terms is just speculation, again, we have not given official word about the tether status or any details regarding the exploit used.
Update 2: It seems like SHAtter confirmed to be tethered jailbreak, check my new post here for more information.

That latest exploit from @pod2g confirmed to work beyond iPhone4…also on at least iPad and yesterday’s iPod4G too
Of course there's no ETA, but it's confirmation from MuscleNerd, You can read more about this exploit in our earlier post here. Also, as usual stay tuned and we will keep you informed by any information.

iPod Touch 4G Confirmed Jailbroken with the Same Bootrom Exploit

Wow, What a big one! iPod touch 4G has arrived for users who pre-ordered it last week when it was announced! Guess What? Pod2G our new iPhone hacker has got iPod touch 4G and his new bootrom exploit works on it. That would be great if he could really jailbreak the 4th-generation iPod touch.
Darkchoas asks him if the exploit works on iPod touch 4G:
@pod2g is this exploit valid for ipod touch 4g? just wanted to clarify ive read alot of conflicting stuff
Pod2g replies:
@Darkchaos455 yes IPod4g too
So, what a big one Apple! iOS 4.1 has been released today, and iPod touch 4G was released last week and now they both can be jailbroken forever and Apple won't catch this exploit forever. As usual we will keep you informed whenever the jailbreak tool is available.

But that doesn't mean that the jailbreak is ready. There's still a lot of work to do, the iPhone dev team will work on the unlock and this hacker will work on jailbreaking iOS 4.1. For your info, Pod2g is not from dev team. As usual we will keep you informed. [via Twitter]

Update 1: This exploit also valid for iPod touch 4G as Pod2g confirmed that in a tweet replying someone asking him about the iPod touch 4G, more details posted here.

Pod2g Got a Bootrom Exploit to Jailbreak iOS 4.1

Yeah, Tweets were here and there about the exploit that will jailbreaks iOS 4.1, and here it come! Pod2g is the hacker which will jailbreak iOS 4.1 not Comex (as already told). It was crazy that he got the latest exploit just as 4.1 went public. But there's still lots of work to do before the release.
The new jailbreak is on it's way. Pod2G and p0sixninja were able to find a new boot level exploit, which means that Apple will no longer able to block the jailbreak unless they upgrade the hardware in all iOS devices as this exploit acts on the hardware itself. As usual, we will keep you informed whenever the jailbreak is available.

Update 1: The exploits successfully works on iOS 4.1, for people who were wondering about the tweet from Pod2G says iOS 4.0.1, now check more details about this here.
