New Version of TinyUmbrella will Allow You to Restore Your iOS Device without iTunes

Actually, it's not a new tool, it's the well-know must have tool, TinyUmbrella. Semaphore, the developer behind TinyUmbrella, has started a new post regarding that he is working on a new and improved version of TinyUmbrella that will allow you to restore your iOS device without iTunes.

From what's being said on his blog:
I've been working on a new and improved version of TinyUmbrella that will, among other things, allow you to restore your iDevice without iTunes. With the holiday season and work, this will take me a bit to get working the way I want it. I appreciate your patience and your support. You guys are awesome :) No ETAs yet but I'll post updates here and on twitter.
With this feature in TinyUmbrella, you won't need iTunes anymore and of course, this will bypass all errors while downgrading, updating, and may help with preserving the baseband. We'll post updates as they come, stay tuned !

Save SHSH Blobs Directly from Your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch with iSHSHit

iSHSHit is a new Cydia utility that allows you to save SHSH blobs directly from your iphone, iPod touch or iPad itself, without the need to use a desktop application such as TinyUmbrella.
This new Cydia tweak is pretty simple to use. Basically, you just make sure that the information you want saved are correct and press save. It should prompt you by downloading the SHSHs. What iSHSHit basically does next is that is opens up to a new mail page sending the attachments to any e-mail account you want.
Technically, once you press save, the SHSH blobs are already saved, but you can also send them via email to another inbox for more permanent keeping, cool, eh?

iSHSHit is a free Cydia tweak and you need a jailbroken device to install this app so you can follow our guide posted here to jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 or use Limera1n for iOS 4.1 jailbreak. I really recommend this app to save your SHSH blobs since is convenient, fast, and easy! I'm sure saving SHSH blos won't consume too much time out of your day. All it takes is 3 seconds! Who knows, maybe if your device's firmware corrupts, you can restore to the same firmware and keep your jailbreak. This is a must have for any jailbreaker.

How to: Update iPhone 4 to iOS 4.1 While Preserving Baseband 01.59.00

Yesterday we reported you that the new hacker guy Pod2g has found an exploit to jailbreak iOS 4.1 after releasing with few hours, but till now there is no news about the baseband exploit, so the dev team warnned the upgrade to iOS 4.1 as you may lose your unlock may be for ever. Fortunately Notcom, the guy behind Tiny Umbrella, with version version 4.1.3, he discovered a method to preserve your iOS 4.0.1 baseband 01.59.00 while updating to iOS 4.1 on iPhone 4.

Note: Until there is a jailbreak available for iOS 4.1 on iPhone 4, you will not be able to use ultrasn0w, So proceed with caution and backup your SHSH blobs first, We are not responsible for any problem occured you your iPhone 4 device after this guide.

Step 1: Close iTunes or any other application.

Step 2: Download & Launch TinyUmbrella then connect your iPhone 4.
Step 3: Hit the "Start TSS" Server button
Step 4: Now launch iTunes and restore to iOS 4.1, by Clicking on the iPhone icon on the left sidebar of iTunes then hold left “alt” button (“Shift” button on Windows) on the keyboard and then click on “Restore” then release the alt button, now point it to the iOS 4.1 firmware

Step 5: Wait for iTunes to end up with "error 1004". This is normal and has to do with the baseband not being updated.

TinyUmbrella Updated to Support iOS 4.1 and Protect iPhone 4 baseband

Notcom the developer behind TinyUmbrella which saves SHSH blobs of your iPhone to give you the ability to downgrade your device, has just update his amazing tool TinyUmbrella to support iOS 4.1 for all devices including iPod touch 4G. There's an amazing feature added to TinyUmbrella 4.02.07 posted below.

The feature is for iPhone 4 only, when upgrade to iOS 4.1, it will update your baseband to 2.10.4 but if you have SHSH blobs of iOS 4.0.2, you will be able to downgrade your iOS and your baseband together. It was impossible to downgrade the baseband, but Notcom makes it possible for iPhone 4. Here's the changelog:
  • Baseband Protection - Updating to 4.1 using TinyUmbrella will protect your baseband from update. THIS ONLY APPLIES TO IPHONE 4!!!!! If you have a 3G or 3GS and you update to 4.1 your baseband will likely be updated.
  • SHSH Retrieval from Cydia - If you don't have your SHSH locally, TinyUmbrella will request them from Cydia on-demand; allowing the restore to continue
  • Automatically point hosts to Cydia - Once you close TinyUmbrella, it points your hosts file to Cydia (for further baseband protection and update/restores without TinyUmbrella)
Note: It's highly recommended to save your SHSH blobs right now as iOS 4.1 is scheduled to be released tomorrow.

If you are already on iOS 4.1 GM you can use the guide posted here to Save SHSH blobs of iOS 4.1 for all devices, download the latest version of TinyUmbrella below,

New and Cool Features Coming to TinyUmbrella in the Future

Notcom, the developer behind TinyUmbrella which lets you enable save the SHSH blob so you can downgrade, (we have guide posted here for latest version) has posted a new post showing really nice and cool features will be added to TinyUmbrella in the future. He didn't mention anything about the release time but it's probably not in the next update.
Here's the fixes:
  • Device History: TinyUmbrella will remember device information of devices that have connected so that saving SHSH's for those devices in the future no longer requires you to connect the device.
  • Save All SHSH's Available "On-File" at Cydia: TinyUmbrella will now automatically check Cydia for ALL SHSHs for the connected device (or device from history :) )
  • TinyUmbrella will also help you detect what application is running on your computer that is taking up port 80 and will give you the option to kill that application. This should help many of you that don't know what application may be listening on port 80 (ie. Skype)
  • TinyUmbrella will also tell you what firmware versions you can safely downgrade or restore to whenever you connect the device (or select a device from history)
  • TinyUmbrella will be sporting a cleaner UI based on some of the great suggestions from @chpwn (a friend and fellow chronic dev team associate)
  • Support for PowerPC and more stable runtime for folks having problems running TinyUmbrella for odd and various reasons.
Big ones:
  • Activation Support: I've started looking into the way the phone requests (and obtains) activation from apple's servers. I'm confident I can duplicate this process but I have more investigation as the the process is incredibly complicated.
  • Full Restore Support without iTunes: I'm looking at implementing my own complete restore mechanism. I have not decided if I'll directly use @p0sixninja's libirestore or whether I'll try to do something that hasn't been done before... ie in java :)
Stay tuned and we will keep you informed!

TinyUmbrella 4.02.04 to Save SHSH Blobs of iOS 4.0.2 / iOS 3.2.2

Early today we told you that Apple has stopped signing SHSH blobs of iOS 4.0.1 and iOS 3.2.1, So Notcom has updated his popular tool "TinyUmbrella" to be able to save SHSH of iOS 4.0.2 for iPhone / iPod Touch and iOS 3.2.2 for iPad.
In case you don't know, SHSH Blobs is a unique signature which is checked against Apple servers whenever you decide to restore the firmware on any of your Device. Once a new firmware is released, Apple stops signing the older firmware, hence making it impossible to restore back to the older firmware from iTunes.

If you already have SHSH blobs of iOS 4.0.1, you can use the guide posted here to downgrade from iOS 4.0.2 to iOS 4.0.1 and use the guide posted here to jailbreak any iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad.
Steps:

How to: Save SHSH Blobs (ECID SHSH) of iOS 4 [Windows & Mac]

As I told you that TinyUmbrella has been Updated to support iOS 4 but I didn't post the guide, So Here's a guide to Save SHSH Blob on iOS 4 as you saved it on iPhone 3.1.3 and iPad 3.2 but was Using AutoSHSH and Umbrella Firmware. Follow the step by step Guide below..
What's ECID SHSH?
ECID SHSH is a unique signature which is checked against Apple servers whenever you decide to restore the firmware on any of your Device. Once a new firmware is released, Apple stops signing the older firmware, hence making it impossible to restore back to the older firmware from iTunes.

And Why Should I Save SHSH Blobs?
By Using a SHSH blob, you can downgrade or restore back to the older firmware. This is important because if you don’t have your SHSH blob saved, and accidently update to new firmware, you’ll loose your jailbreak and furthermore, you wont be able to downgrade back to older firmware to re-jailbreak your device.

Steps:
Step 1: Download TinyUmbrella V4.00.06 (Mac / Windows / Linux) at the end of page.
Step 2: Make sure you are running iTunes on your Device.
Step 3: Now Connect your Device to Computer via USB
Step 4: Launch TinyUmbrella and Click on Save SHSH, Now your SHSH blob will be saved on Cydia Server by default or on your computer if you have chosen to.

Download TinyUmbrella 4.00.31 for Windows and Mac OS X

Update 1: TinyUmbrella 4.00.31 has been Released to fix Device Detection issues, More details posted here, Also 4.00.32 is out!
Update 2: TinyUmbrella 4.00.80 now Enables you to Connect Multiple Devices at the Same time, Check more detail here.

TinyUmbrella updated to Support iOS 4

Notcom, the developer of Umbrella Firmware and TinyUmbrella has updated Tiny Umbrella to bring Support for iOS 4, Now you can Save SHSH of your iOS 4 after you jailbreak your Device. This tool also brings support for Windows, Mac, and Linux.
If you don't know what's TinyUmbrella, here's a quick look:
  • Umbrella – The tool simply performs the same challenge request that iTunes does during an iDevice restore. The difference is that it saves the results in a single shsh file. This file will give you the ability, to restore back to a previous firmware indefinitely
  • TinyTSS - is a small java app that acts as your very own signature service. When iTunes verifies your restore for your iDevice, it ‘phones home’ to see if you are allowed to restore to the version you are requesting. With TinyTSS + the shsh blob file(s) you obtained with Umbrella, you will be able to restore to the version of those shsh files forever!
  • TinyUmbrella – merge the two tools described above
This version of iOS 4 supports iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 2G, iPod Touch 3G and iPad. You can Download TinyUmbrella from the Links below:
